Generic Linux/VAX
Work is in progress to port Linux to the VAX. Currently a 2.6 kernel is mostly up and running, but userland is lagging behind. There is only a very experimental static and/or shared uClibc userland at this time. Toolchain is based on bleeding edge (CVS) versions of gcc and binutils. Userland library is uClibc.
The Linux/VAX developpers are working on getting more up-to-date tools up and running, but progress is slow.

News
- GCC 4.1 compiled kernel reaches userland.
- Native toolchain is working.

TA-Linux/VAX
There is an experimental uClibc based shared library TA-Linux userland, but it's incomplete, has many bugs and very old. It has been compiled with the old 2.95.x based toolchain.
